Is RoraSilk made with 100% mulberry silk?

The silk fabric used in RoraSilk products is made from 100% mulberry silk. Some finished products may also contain functional components such as stitching, elastic, padding, or internal closures.

What does momme mean?

Momme is a measurement used to describe the weight of silk fabric. It helps indicate how light or substantial the fabric may feel, but it is not the only measure of quality.
Read our silk momme guide.

Is a higher momme always better?

Not necessarily. The most suitable momme depends on the product, construction, flexibility, and intended use. Fabric weight should be considered together with surface quality and workmanship.

Why does silk have a natural sheen?

The structure of silk fibers reflects light softly from different angles, creating a subtle changing sheen rather than the strong, uniform shine often associated with synthetic fabrics.

Why Choose Silk

Why choose silk for sleep?

Silk offers a smooth, lightweight surface with a soft feel and fluid drape. Many people choose it for a gentler and more considered nighttime routine.

Does silk reduce friction?

Silk generally has a smoother surface than rougher woven fabrics, which can create gentler contact with hair and skin. Individual experience may vary depending on the product, fabric, and way it is used.

Is silk suitable for year-round use?

Many people find silk comfortable across different seasons because of its lightweight, smooth feel. Personal comfort still depends on climate, room temperature, and individual preference.

Is silk suitable for sensitive skin?

Mulberry silk is a natural protein fiber generally considered low-allergenic. Its smooth surface offers gentle contact with the skin, although individual sensitivities may still vary.

Are all silk products the same?

The structure of silk fibers reflects light softly from different angles, creating a subtle changing sheen rather than the strong, uniform shine often associated with synthetic fabrics.

Silk vs Satin

Is silk the same as satin?

No. Silk is a fiber, while satin refers to a type of weave or smooth surface finish. Satin may be woven from silk, but many products marketed as satin are made from polyester.
Read our complete silk vs satin guide.

Is polyester satin real silk?

No. Polyester satin is made from synthetic fibers. It may have a smooth or shiny surface, but it is different from natural silk in fiber content and material structure.

Why does synthetic satin often look shinier?

Synthetic satin can reflect light in a stronger and more uniform way. Natural silk usually has a softer sheen that changes with the angle and movement of the fabric.

How can I tell what material a product contains?

Check the fiber-content label and product description rather than relying only on words such as “silky” or “satin.” Clear labeling should state whether the fabric is silk, polyester, or a blend.

Silk Care

How should I care for silk?

Wash silk gently in cool water with a mild detergent suitable for silk or delicate fabrics. Avoid bleach, wringing, prolonged soaking, and high heat. Always check the product care label first.
Follow our complete silk care guide.

Can silk be machine washed?

Some silk items may be machine washed when the care label allows it. Use cool water, a delicate cycle, a mesh laundry bag, and a mild silk-safe detergent.

Can silk go in the dryer?

Air drying is generally the gentler option. High temperatures can affect the shape, texture, and appearance of silk, so always follow the individual care label.

Can silk be ironed or steamed?

Use a low-temperature setting and work from the reverse side when possible. Avoid leaving concentrated heat on one area for too long.
